At the start, the space malfunctioned, Elon Musk himself ascribed the glitch to a DDOS attack (which is basically when someone or many someones flood a particular link or site with a bunch of fake traffic to block people from being able to use the site or link).
The space was quickly fixed and everyone was able to join. At any given time, the space never had less than 1 million in the audience and for most of the time sat around 1.2 million. The space itself received about 73 million views just last night and generated an additional 4 million user posts with a combined 998 million views.
