Can you imagine Donald Trump riffing a cold open for MSNBC’s primetime hour on the eve of the election?
It could have been comedy gold. And we came an inch away from it becoming reality.
NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” gave Kamala Harris 90 seconds of unpaid air time to yuck it up with Maya Rudolph in a deeply unfunny sketch on the eve of the election. Trump wound up running a 90 second ad on NBC during a NASCAR event Sunday evening, but what a lost opportunity that was. Just imagine if he had demanded 90 seconds at the top of “The Rachel Maddow Show:”
“Good evening, everyone. Yes, even the haters here at MSNBC. But that’s okay, it’s not your fault. You’ve been lied to. That’s what they do here, they lie. They’re not very nice. But that’s alright, because your favorite President — Donald J. Trump — is here tonight to set the record straight.”
