DOGErevealedthat$1.9billioninHUDmoneyhadbeenrecoveredasofFriday,sayingthefundsweremisplacedduringtheBidenadministrationandwere“earmarkedfortheadministrationoffinancialservices,butwerenolongerneeded.”
DOGEsaiditworkedwithTurnertoreleasethefunds,andtheyarenowavailableforusebytheU.S.DepartmentofTreasury.
TurnersaidHUDlauncheditsownDOGETaskForcetoreviewhowtheagencyisspendingtaxpayermoney.HUDemployeeswillleadthetaskforcewithamissiontomaximizetheirbudgetandefficiency,reportingtheirfindingsdirectlytoTurner.
