By now, we all know Hollywood has lost the plot. But just when you think they can’t get any more ridiculous, they go and do something like this. The Hollywood Bowl just announced that Cynthia Erivo—a bald, black woman who identifies as queer—will be playing Jesus Christ in their upcoming revival of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Yes, you read that right.
The Son of God, the King of Kings, the Savior of the World—played by a woman. A woman who, by every historical and biblical account, looks absolutely nothing like Jesus. But I guess historical accuracy is just a suggestion in Hollywood these days, right?
