Atleast880workersattheNationalOceanicandAtmosphericAdministration(NOAA),thecountry’snationalweatherservice,werefiredThursday,Sen.MariaCantwell,D-Wash.,saidinapressreleaseastheTrumpadministrationworkstodownsizeandcutfederalcosts.
“Thefiringsjeopardizeourabilitytoforecastandrespondtoextremeweathereventslike hurricanes,wildfiresandfloods—puttingcommunitiesinharm’sway,”Cantwelladded.
