As soon as Elon Musk got to work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Democrats were livid. Cutting waste, they say, is tantamount to a constitutional crisis because, apparently, the Founding Fathers enshrined funding transgender operas in the Bill of Rights or something.
Despitetheirbellyachingabouthowterribleitistocutfundingtowastefulprograms,theyusedtotalkabiggameaboutwantingtocutwastefulspending.Heck,theywereforDOGEbeforetheywereagainstit.
Backin2011,then-PresidentBarackObamaandVicePresidentJoeBidenlaunchedwhattheycalledthe“CampaigntoCutWaste,”makingboldpromisesabouteliminatinginefficiencies,reducingpointlessspending,andgivingAmericans“thegovernmentyouexpectanddeserve.”
