Actress Camryn Manheim admitted she tried forcing her straight son to be gay in an unhinged speech at the Sept. 26 Human Rights Campaign (HRC) National Dinner.
The actress, best known for her role as Ellenor Frutt in “The Practice,” took the podium to present her friend Marcia Gay Harden with the Ally for Equality Award and decided to use her platform to complain about how her son ultimately turned out to be heterosexual, despite her best efforts.
While introducing Harden, Manheim said, “She has three remarkable children who all align with the LGBTQ+ community, which is another thing that deeply irritates me about her, because I always wanted a gay son,” Manheim admitted.
She continued her rant.
“I love that relationship between gay sons and their mothers,” she said.
“I wanted to be the picket sign-holding mom who would beat the shit out of somebody for her kid. I mean, let’s just admit it, gay sons are the best, right? Right!” she said, inciting excitement from the crowd.
Manheim continued with her bizarre admission, and the audience soaked it up.
“I have photographs of my son in high heels, in full drag; he knows every word to every musical ever written, his fairy godfather, Aaron Walton, is here with us tonight,” she said.

Manheim recalled receiving a call from Harden.
“When Marcia Gay Harden told me her son had come out to her, I said, ‘Oh my god, you are so fucking lucky!’”
Manheim’s only child, Milo Manheim, is a 25-year-old actor who starred as Zed in Disney’s “Zombies.”
He played Joseph in the 2023 Christmas musical, “Journey to Bethlehem,” and placed second as a contestant on “Dancing With The Stars.”
